Crossing the Brandywine Bridge

Fairwynn of Rohan had travelled a long way to escape attacks in the Westfold from evil Dunlendings who were under the command of Saruman. She arrived in Bree, only to find that Saruman’s reach had extended further west and he had sent evil men who were beginning to terrorize the Breeland countryside and soon they were crossing the Brandywine Bridge and entering the Shire.

Many of the hobbits in Buckland and the Marish in the Shire were getting anxious and they were enlisting the help of any willing Free People of Middle Earth to put a stop to the attacks of innocent farmers and travellers on the East Road. Fairwynn had earned the trust of some of the locals including Farmer Maggot, after Fairwynn ventured into the Old Forest in search of Doderic Brandybuck and Rollo Maggot.

After all, not even the locals, except for young foolish hobbits, ever venture into the Old Forest, especially at night. But Fairwynn had entered, fearlessly slaying wolves, bears, and other creatures who attacked anyone who ventured into the forest. Even the trees were dangerous in the Old Forest, yet Fairwynn used her musical skills to sooth the restless trees and she returned unscathed.

She was the talk of Buckland that day. Celandine Brandybuck introduced her to the townsfolk and they fed her supper and toasted her bravery. Fairwynn of Rohan spent many weeks travelling between Bree and the Shire via the Brandywine Bridge for she had come to love both places and the folks who lived there.

Travelling Through Enedwaith

Pareth left Moria and travelled back to Eregion and continued south to Enedwaith to rejoin the Grey Company. The DĂșnedain had many preparations to complete before their grim journey to meet up with Aragorn.

Pareth was asked to scout the various roads throughout Enedwaith for signs of the enemy. And there were plenty. Dunlending warriors, servants of the White Hand and the evil Saruman, were patrolling all over the lands and so the Grey Company were kept informed of their positions. In the weeks to come Pareth would help to thin the ranks of these evil men, and all the evil creatures that could jeapardize the safe journey of the Grey Company.

Pareth loved the landscape of Enedwaith. In peaceful times, it would be a wonderful place to make a home. But war preparations were being made all through Middle Earth and there were very few places that were truly safe. Pareth sighed. She knew that there were many more battles to be waged and more blood would be spilled before it was all over. She hoped it would be soon. And it was this hope for peace that kept Pareth strong and focused.

Scouting Barad Tharsir

From a distance, Barad Tharsir in Barandalf seems peaceful enough and a weary traveller might be tempted to visit the pristine beach it inhabits. It seemed safe and quiet, but it wasn’t. Far from it.

Tearose travelled to Evendim often and when she recently spoke to the Wardens of AnnĂșminas in Tinnudir, they asked if she would journey to Barandalf’s west shore so that she could scout Barad Tharsir and report back.

Tearose was happy to help the Wardens who were usually grim and silent, but always joked with her. They seemed to genuinely enjoy her company and so Tearose was honoured to be asked to help.

She rode leisurely to the beaches of Barandalf and she carefully avoided the salamanders and pests that inhabited the area. She found a spot where she had a perfect view of Barad Tharsir and at first it seemed deserted. “I wonder why the Wardens were concerned” she thought to herself.

She decided to sit for a while on the beach and she dug her toes into the warm sand and had a snack. She was beginning to enjoy the peace and quiet, when suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she saw something or someone move in Barad Tharsir. She looked again, and that’s when she saw several tomb robbers, with weapons drawn, patrolling the beach. She knew they were tomb robbers for the Wardens had described them to her in detail.

Tearose watched the tomb robbers for quite some time before she rode back to Tinnudir. She got the feeling they were preparing for an attack. She would warn the Wardens so that they would send more than one lone warrior to defeat them.

Perhaps she would ask to go along and help. It was quite some time since Tearose took part in a battle but she was well-rested and she felt ready, the past horrors in Angmar and Moria were forgotten. Tearose smiled to herself. Yes, her confidence was returning and just like most hobbits do so easily, she had bounced back from her injuries.

And so it was that Tearose Underhill led a small group of Free Peoples of Middle Earth and together they rid Barad Tharsir of all the tomb raiders. And later on, the weary band of warriors toasted their victory with fine wine from the Shire, and set up camp on the beach, which was truly peaceful and beautiful once more.
